I failed my first glucose test :(
I had to go back 2 weeks later for a 4 hour glucose tolerance test. And...I failed that one too. Kind of a bummer, but whatdya do.
So..I have gestational diabetes. A kind of diabetes that only pregnant women get. There's a 50% chance after a woman delivers that she will get type 2 diabetes later. And heaven forbid I don't want that.
They gave me a whole stack of papers to read, and I was off. Not going to lie it was pretty overwhelming at first. They basically told me I had to go on this extensive diet, watch what i eat, prick myself 5 times a day, so that my baby doesn't end up being 15 lbs when she's born.
That's not what a mom to be wants to hear! I met with a nurse the next day that explained things to me in more detail. It was so much information I just was overwhelmed. I basically have to count my carbs, but I can't leave out my carbs either. They have me on a strict day to day plan as to how many carbs, proteins, grains, etc that I have to eat throughout the day.
So...Tanner helped me make meal plans and I went to the store and bought totally new and strange food.
Pricking myself 5x a day hasn't been fun at all, but the last thing I want my baby to do is to be 15 lbs, and to have diabetes once she's born. So i'll do all I can to not let that happen and to make sure that she gets here healthy and strong.
I have to carry this thing around with me all day.
But it's okay, it's keeping me and my baby girl healthy. :)
She sure is growing by the way!! We've made it to 30 weeks.
I'm so glad she's still in there. Tanner and I are hoping she will stay in there until at least MARCH- that's our goal :)
We love you sis and can't wait to meet you in 9 short weeks or less!!

Sometimes life throws us curveballs
One of my lasts posts was about our new pickup and how we FINALLY found the one that we've been searching for for a long time.
Well, Tanner got a job offer in Brigham City to redo a hotel down there. We were both hesitant about it at first because we've wanted to keep our business local, but we could've used the money at the time. Tan was scheduled to be down there for 10 days, and was really excited about it. He and our employee headed down there at 5:30 am. When Tanner woke me up to tell me he was leaving and he loved me, I just didn't have a really good feeling about him going. I kept telling him that, but I was bawling at the same time and so I thought it was just my pregnancy hormones, and me not liking to be alone.
Well, the morning after they left, I get a call at 9:30 in the morning from my panicked husband. I did not like the sound in his voice. He was crying and was very upset. He began to tell me that someone just ran into him, and the trailer and the truck were both crushed, and lots of his tools were scattered in the intersection....
.....as a pregnant, emotional wife that wasn't the most comforting thing I wanted to hear.
He was stopped at a red stop light in Brigham City (15 minutes away from the hotel), and someone ran into the back of the trailer going about 50 mph. Tanner said that the guy was a real jerk. Tanner asked him if he was texting while he was driving and the guy said, "I dunno dude, I guess I just spaced it for a sec."
That surely didn't help the situation at all. The police showed up and Tanner said this was one of the most frustrating parts of it all. Tanner asked the police if they could check his phone to see if he was texting, or to give him a drug test, or SOMETHING to find out what on earth the guy was doing that caused him to just 'space it for a sec.' The police told Tanner that they legally couldn't perform a drug test or look at his phone. And they wouldn't tell Tanner why.
So there Tanner is, looking at his crushed trailer and pickup, and expensive ruined tools scattered in the intersection- left with no answers as to what the guy was doing. The police gave the guy a citation for 'inattentive driving,' and the guy was off. just like that. pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
This is the picture Tanner sent me. The worst part about it all was that the guy that hit Tanner was driving a tiny cadillac car...and it did ALL this damage.
But anyway, long story short, after several hours, Tanner got a rental car, and headed for home. while his whole life was just sitting at an intersection- ruined. All because of somebody else's stupid decision.
This whole thing has been a huge mess, and has made Tanner and I realize how much other people's actions effect those around them. this has been a very trying trail for us, especially Tanner. His most prized possessions are all ruined, and he did nothing wrong. I think that's what's been getting to him the most is that he was obeying the law, just stopped at a stop sign, and someone decides to do something stupid, and ruin his life. It's been a rough week trying to figure out all the damage that's been done, and trying to work with the insurances to get our stuff back.
Our insurance thinks we committed insurance fraud on our pickup. We bought the pickup 2 weeks ago, switched insurances on it, and the same week the truck is totalled. We all know we didn't do it on purpose, but our insurance won't give us any $$ for our belongings or anything, until they clear that. It's been over a week and we are still waiting.
our insurance also said they won't cover any medical expenses for Tanner's injuries. Even though we pulled up our insurance plan and could see that he has medical coverage, they still say they won't pay. why? no idea. frustrating? yes.
So....very frustrating but all we can do is be patient and be GRATEFUL that Tanner is still alive. Seriously. I can't imagine losing him right now. Especially with a new baby on the way! We are lucky he is alive. That's all I can say.
A few days after the accident, Tanner and I drove down to logan where they towed our truck and trailer to see if anything was still salvageable. This was the part that got to me more than anything. I had seen pictures of the trailer, but it was WAY worse in person. I was overcome with emotion that my poor husband was still alive. Look at these pictures....
We pulled up and this was all I saw....
I seriously just couldn't believe it! I was in awe the whole time. And I just kept thinking how a tiny cadillac car did all this damage. it was unbelievable.
Luckily we were able to grab some small things like extension cords, hammers, wrenches, etc. ALL of Tan's big expensive saws and stands and things were completely ruined. Ugh man still looking at these pics it makes me sick. But so glad that my husband is alive.
The past 2 weeks or so have been pretty rough, with Tanner not being able to work, but we all know that things happen for a reason. We are just trying to figure out why this happened.
I really am SO grateful that Tanner is still alive, and only came out of the whole thing with a hurt neck and back. It could've been so worse for him.
"Tools can be replaced, but a human body can't.' That's been my motto to Tanner the past week :)

update on our little princess
Well, we have made it to 28 weeks!! woohoo!! And I am feeling rather large haha. I just have to say...I am absolutely LOVING feeling her move and kick me all day long. I am definitely going to miss those little flutters!
I think the last pic I posted was at 20 weeks, so here's an update at 28 weeks!
I had my 28 week appt this last week and failed my glucose test...booooo. So I have to go back on Feb 3 to have a 3 hour glucose test done. I hope I pass!! I don't want to have gestational diabetes. So we will see!
The past 8 weeks have just flown by!
She now is about 14 inches long, and weighs probably 2 or 2.5 pounds. Per my app haha.
-I swear she's going to be a gymnast because she sure does cartwheels all the time! She's definitely a mover. At our last ultrasound, the nurse said that she was really hyper! And it was funny because when she was detecting her heartbeat, she kicked the nurse's hand! it was so funny.
-I have been craving hashbrowns the past while. We have hashbrowns for dinner probably twice a week. And for some breakfasts :) haha
-I also crave marshmallows. super weird! but they are so good mmmm.
-She enjoys giving me heartburn. All day, every day. I have to take 2 heartburn pills a day or im miserable!
-Her favorite part of the day is when I'm sleeping. haha. she often wakes me up in the middle of the night with a nice little kick to the bladder. Thanks sis.
-Lastly, I feel so grateful for her every day. Even though I can't tie my shoes, and I can hardly get out of bed, I love her already. We are so anxious to meet her and see what she looks like!
We have a few names we love, but we want to see what she looks like before we pick her name :)
The Dr.'s have told us to prepare for an early delivery, so I think I'm going to stop working in March, unless she comes before that. I hope she doesn't come TOO early! We are crossing our fingers she stays in there until March :)
We love you little miss sunshine!!

A new addition to the Fam
After searching for 6+ months for a pickup that was economically smart, and a good investment for us and our business, we found the one. And let me tell you- I am SO glad that we did. Because now I get my husband back hahaha. He would search like 12 hours a day every day for 6 months just to find the perfect truck for us. So I'm glad I have him back :)
We actually found this pick up back in November in Idaho Falls. We went and test drove it and I LOVED IT!!! That's saying a lot because I do NOT like dodge. I hate the way that the front looks, and I just don't like them! haha but this one for some reason was a dream to drive, and the looks of it didn't bother me at all.
Well, the dealer was asking too much and we didn't want to pay as much as he was asking. So we set this pickup aside, and looked elsewhere.
2 months later we still had this pickup in the back of our heads, so Tanner called the dealer and they wheeled and dealed. We talked him down to a price that was in our price range, and whatdya know- IT WAS OURS!!!
We are stoked. And it get's 20 mpg instead of 8!
RIP Seth Potter!
On December 16, 2014 one of my all time favorite people passed away. Seth has always been a good family friend, and an even closer friend to me. When I went to Europe with my dad, Seth and his brother Joe and I got really close, and hung out the whole time. Their laughs I beg to say are what got me laughing as hard and as loud as I do.
There's just something about Seth Potter that just brightens the room. I wish I could post a video on here of his laugh, but Blogger won't let me :( Well most of you know my laugh- just imagine that times 10. Really. You couldn't NOT laugh when you were around him. He had a way of making everyone feel loved, and like you were his best friend. Definitely a quality I want to have.
I could go on and on about how special of a person Seth was, but I won't. or I'll bawl.
He got in a motorcycle accident on the highway, and it wasn't looking good. He suffered severe brain trauma, and was in a coma for I think 8 days? The doctors wouldn't allow anyone to go in the room to see him, because it was that bad.
I felt very strongly that I should go to his funeral. It was in Wyoming, and was a 6 hour drive. Tanner was so supportive and came with me. We made a fun road trip out of it :) It was so good to see his family, and to just give them the biggest hug that I could. Even though things were so sensitive and tragic, they were still laughing their heads off through the line :)
It was very interesting to see Seth in his coffin. It didn't look like him at all, and he was just lifeless. They put so much make-up on him that he looked like a totally different person. They had him dressed in his temple clothes, and he looked so peaceful.
Seth Potter-such a wonderful person. I'm sure God has things in store for him up in Heaven- probably to laugh and touch more people's lives on the other side :)
I will miss you Seth!!! Thanks for the memories you and I made together, and for touching SO many people's lives. You are loved!!
Love you my friend!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
So a little after Tanner and I moved into my parents ward, the bishopric came over and met with us. One of the callings they gave us was to be in charge of the Ward Christmas Party. AH! That's all that went through my brain haha. They told us we could pick whatever theme we wanted. They gave us a committee of 2 young men, 2 young women, and another couple in the ward. We were just the head peeps in charge. I didn't start planning it really until November. We had a few meeting with our committee. Well, as Tanner and I were brainstorming theme ideas, we all know how much Tanner and I LOVE the grinch. We watch it like 10 times a year and quote it 12 months out of the year haha. So....we brought the Grinch theme up to our committee and everyone loved it!
So....Grinch it was.
Here I was, trying to think where to even start to plan a fun party for 350 people...I think I watched the Grinch like 5 times before any ideas started coming to me.
Not going to lie I was a little overwhelmed hahaha I had never planned a party this huge before, and it had been YEARS since I'd been to a ward christmas party to even get any ideas flowing.
I started looking at ideas of decorations on Pinterest, and from my mom, etc. I ended up getting ornaments at the dollar store that were super cute and cheap. Walmart had cheap rolls of tulle, and I got 30 tablecloths from the dollar store. I ended up finding a lady on facebook that would make me a 5 ft tall Grinch! as tall as me! :)
Tanner and I came up with a theme that we thought was perfect:
I got an adorable sign that said that off of Amazon that we hung up.
I also made some blocks that I thought were so cute! They took forever but were worth it!
I was given quite the tight budget, so finding decorations, and food, and silverware, etc was tough! but we did it :)
Sadly. our committee wasn't very helpful which made it even more stressful for me. But...we did it anyway and we think it turned out to be pretty fun!
Here's some pictures of everything after we set it all up. Tanner and I had our friends set the tables and decorations up with us :)
We set up 30 tables, and 325 chairs.
We had fun games set up for little kids like Pin the Heart on Mr. Grinch, and coloring pages.
We also put up a photo booth! The adults loved that.
There was SO much more set up, but I got so busy that I forgot to get pics of everything. The best part and Im STILL mad at myself for not getting a picture, was the entry way. I LOVED IT!!!!
I had a square table set up by the door, with adorable green and red light up presents, with my GRINCH blocks, grinch trees that I made as well, and a drawing of Mr. Grinch poking his head through the door. oh it was so cute! I didn't get a picture but you can picture it in your head :)
We also got really lucky on the food part! We bought 10 hams, and had people sign up to bring 10 each of who hash, who pudding, grinch greens, and rare who roast beast! It turned out perfect, and we had ham left over!!!! woohoo!!! The bishopric told us that every year they've run out of food. So we were proud of ourselves hahaha. We also had a ugly sweater contest- that was a hit!! Adults went all out on that and loved it! I asked a family in our ward to do the entertainment, and they also did a wonderful job! they were so funny and had everyone laughing!
Overall, Tanner and I had a lot of fun. It was super overwhelming for me, and being 21 weeks pregnant didn't help at all. I was on my feet from 8 in the morning, until 11 at night. With a 20 minute lunch break. Let's just say when I got home, I took a looooong bath. My hip ended up going out, and m muscles were so sore! But- it was fun and worth it!
*Things I didn't do that I wish I would've:
-make sure you have a committee that is willing to help you with such a huge responsibility! We didn't really have this, and it made it 10 times harder.
-start planning a party this huge more than a month in advance!
-Asked more people in the ward to help me with set up, take down, serving, etc.
-Made Tanner help me more :)
*Things I did do to remember for next time
-delegate!! I ended up delegating a lot of responsibility towards the end. It helped me a ton!
- I can do hard things!!!
-be creative!
Overall, it was a great learning experience for me. looking back, I still can't believe I pulled off something that big and did a good job at it!!
Until next time...
hopefully not :)

Baby #3
Well....Tan and I have some exciting news!!!
We found out just 3 1/2 months after Tuff left us that we were expecting again. We were ecstatic! We honestly weren't expecting to be pregnant that quick, but we are so happy and feel really blessed that it happened so quickly. I found out the beginning of August. My period was late, but I have trained my mind to not think, "Oh my maybe im pregnant!," take a test, have it be negative, and then be depressed for a week. I have just had enough of that haha. I took the test, stared it with wide eyes, put it in starsky's mouth, and told Tanner to call him. Sure enough Starsky held it in his mouth and took it to Tanner. Tan just stared at it and we both just couldn't believe it. We have trained ourselves to be excited when this happens- but not too excited. Some people might think that's dumb, but when you are us and have had some crazy things happen to your babies and pregnancies, it is the least we can do. So....we were both excited but not jumping for joy like we did with the first pregnancy.
We were living in my parents house at the time, and so I made this onesie to give to them before they left for Jerusalem:
They loved it. In fact, my Dad has it framed in their apartment in Israel :) They are excited.
Anyway, we decided with this one we were just going to wait. Wait before we told family, friends, anyone. It is SO much easier to wait and then not have to tell your loved ones what happened, let alone the facebook world too. We even decided this time to not tell our siblings for a while- just for fun.
I went in really early again- at 4 weeks to talk to the Dr. to see what he wanted me to do this time. We talked about progesterone and lab results from Tuff, and he said that they still weren't able to diagnose or tell us what happened with Tuff. Why his little heartbeat was beating at 16 weeks at my appointment, and then the next day it just stopped. The last resort is that he thinks it might've been caused by blood clots. But he doesn't know for sure. So to be safe this time, I am taking a half an aspirin a day, along with some vitamins and things. We had our 8 week appointment on Sep 5. I was nervous, of course, but felt calm at the same time. Tanner came with me, and they did a vaginal ultrasound and there it was! It's little heart was beating, and moving around! The pictures they printed out looked like a shark...haha so funny.
Here it is:
We scheduled our 12 week appointment for Oct 3....and then waited and waited for 4 weeks. I hate the waiting game. Especially not knowing if my baby is okay.
At around 10 weeks, my belly started poking out, and got really hard. Just like last time. So I knew something was growing still. I couldn't even wear normal pants anymore at about 11 weeks because it was way too tight and uncomfortable! So..I went out and bought 2 pair.
Oct 3 FINALLY came around, and Tan came with me again. I don't not let him come with me haha :) They did an abdominal ultrasound and it was the cutest thing I ever did see. It was a lot bigger this time, and it was moving like CRAZY! the ultrasound tech said she could hardly get measurements becuse it wouldn't hold still! haha. That's a good sign though they said. The baby was kicking like crazy, and was even waving and holding it's arm up. It was really cute. The heartbeat was there and we felt really blessed once again. She got some cute pictures, and said all the measurements and everything looked good! So we were on our way.
Here's a pic at 12 weeks:
Well, monday the 6th came and in the middle of the night I started cramping really bad, with blood to follow. I was a wreck. I didn't want to wake Tanner up because it was 4 am, but I had to. So I layed on his shoulder crying and told him that I was bleeding. He was such a comfort to me. Rubbed my back and my face and told me to not stress- that everything could still be okay. It helped a lot. But I was still a nervous wreck. I called my Dr. right away, and he told me to go to Seasons ASAP.
I got there at 8:45, and they did a abdominal ultrasound to make sure there was a heartbeat. There was....and it was doing just fine in there. Still moving around a lot :)
He told me a few things I won't share on here but he did some things that were quite miserable!! But whatever it takes to figure out what was happening. He did a few things and told me to prepare for premature deliver. I already kind of figured that from my family's history :) He said that sometimes in pregnancy women bleed- and things can still turn out okay- so he sent us on our way.
We scheduled our 16 week ultrasound for Halloween and then waited again. For 4 more long weeks. ugh!! halloween came around and the tech guessed the gender....
A GIRL!!! I was ecstatic. Tanner is excited too but still working on being okay with it not being a boy :)
Here's some more pics:
And of course the belly shot at 16 weeks.
They said everything was looking great and healthy! So we set an appt for 4 more long weeks haha.
At around 19 weeks, I started to feel her move!! I was actually taken back the first time because it just felt like this little flutter in my stomach. I thought it was just gas and kind of ignored it. But then days went on and i was constantly feeling things so I knew it was her! It's an amazing feeling- i love it. And I'll tell you what- she's a mover!!
Nov 26 came around and we were actually really nervous. I was super nervous. Last time at this appointment things weren't okay and my heart was broken. So naturally I was scared. I felt calm though at the same time.
We got in there and she was still breathing!!!! I cried tears of joy. It was a miracle. I could hardly stand it. She was so big compared to a month ago, and she was so cute!!! Here's some pics:
her cute little feetsies together :)
The whole time, she was moving a ton! she's a little jumping bean in there! The tech was having a hard time getting measurements, but eventually she got some. Her heartbeat was perfect, they measured all of her body parts and they said she is measuring a little 'short.' haha we had to laugh. She was curled up in a ball a lot of the time when we were watching her, and her knee cap was like resting on her forehead!!! haha maybe she'll be a little gymnast. It was pretty funny, and adorable of course :)
Tanner and I feel so blessed to have this sweet little girl joining us in 3 or 4 short months!! It'll be here before we know it. We love her SO much already, and can't wait to kiss her cheeks all day long.
